A young girl reaches toward a red heart-shaped balloon floating away. Originally appeared on the Waterloo Bridge area of the South Bank.
[ CRITICAL ANALYSIS ]
Perhaps Banksy's most iconic image. The red balloon — the only colour in an otherwise monochrome work — has been interpreted as hope, love, innocence, or opportunity slipping away. In 2018, a canvas version shredded itself at auction for £1.04m, creating "Love is in the Bin."
